UMARU, SHEHU BASHIRU (DIRECTOR INTERNAL AUDIT)
Umaru, Shehu Bashiru FCNA has spent his life using his personal and career experiences to become a seasoned Accountant across various sectors of the country. Born in the year 1967 on the 13 th of February in Elleman town in Kaugama Local Government Area of Jigawa State Nigeria. He spent his early years in Lagos State, in the south western part of Nigeria where he had his primary education between 1972-1977 at Yewande Memorial School, Lagos. He later moved to Sokoto state where he finished his secondary education at the Federal School of Arts & Science, Sokoto.
He received his tertiary education at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he finished with two Masters degree in Business Administration in 1991 and International Affairs and Diplomacy in 2002. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1988.
He began his career at the State Ministry of Finance, Ogun State where he served as a young youth Corp member. Thereafter he joined the Federal Civil Service in April 1992 as an Accountant II on Grade level 08 where he was posted to the Police Affairs Office. In 1997, he was posted to the FCT Police Command as the 2 nd in Command to the Police Pay Officer where he served till 1999 when he was posted to the Gombe State Police Command as the Police Pay Officer. In 2002 he was posted to the Federal Civil Service Commission where he headed the Central pay Office (CPO) and later the Expenditure Section of the Commission. In 2007, he was transferred to the Federal Ministry of Agric and Water Resources as the Head of Checking Section and when the Ministry was split into two, he was moved to the National Urban Water Section Reform Project, a World bank assisted project as the Project Accountant Under the first, second and third phases of the project.
In 2020, he was posted as head of Internal Audit at the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.
He is presently the Director Internal Audit, Ministry of Steel Development
He is a fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) and Institute of Chartered Economists of Nigeria
